Manchester United are out of the FA Cup after Chelsea secured a 3-1 win in the Wembley semi-final.
An empty Wembley played host to United and Chelsea, with Solskjaer gunning for a fourth victory over opposite number Frank Lampard this season, but one they did not get.
Solskjaer was forced to make five changes for the cup tie after United battled for a hard-fought win over Crystal Palace on Thursday in the Premier League.
Brandon Williams has been picked to start at left wing-back for Solskjaer’s side, with Fred, Daniel James and Eric Bailly recalled.
But Bailly went off with a serious knock to the head in the first half, as Olivier Giroud’s goal gave Chelsea a 1-0 lead deep into added time at the end of the first 45 minutes. Anthony Martial was introduced from the bench.
Chelsea then led 3-0 after a goal from Mason Mount and a Harry Maguire own-goal, before Bruno Fernandes pulled one back late on from the penalty spot.
