2022 World Cup playoff: Injured Ghana defender recovers in time for Nigeria clash

Baba Rahman, a Reading defender, is expected to return from injury soon and could be eligible for Ghana’s vital World Cup playoff against Nigeria.

The Black Stars left-back has been sidelined since sustaining an injury against Preston North End last month.

Last week, manager Paul Ince announced that the defender would be out for two to two weeks, ruling him out of Ghana’s match against Nigeria.

Rahamn, on the other hand, is said to have begun light exercise and could be cleared in time for the Super Eagles’ doubleheader.

His return from injury is a significant boost for the Black Stars, who will need a complete squad to beat their opponents and qualify for this year’s World Cup.

On Friday, March 25, Ghana will host the Super Eagles in Cape Coast before traveling to Abuja for the second leg four days later.

Rahman was Ghana’s first choice left back and a regular in the qualifications’ group rounds.

He is presently on loan from English heavyweights Chelsea to Reading.
