3rd wave: Ghana’s active COVID-19 cases start falling again but death toll still rising

The number of active COVID-19 cases in Ghana has started falling again after rising to almost 7,000.
It is currently 6,545 as of 8 August 2021, the latest figures from the Ghana Health Service have indicated.
Some 406 new cases were recently confirmed.
The death toll, however, is on the rise.
It is 899.
So far, 36 patients are classified as critical and 87 severe.
Since mid-March 2020, Ghana has recorded a total of 109,428 cases.
Out of that number, 101,984 have recovered.
