Asante Kotoko appoints former Black Stars Coach Mariano Barreto

Asante Kotoko FC has officially announced Portuguese trainer Mariano Barreto as the Club’s new head coach.

The ex-Black Stars Coach returns to Ghana 17 years after leaving. Barreto comes in to replace Maxwell Konadu at the Club.

The former Ethiopia National team Coach has already arrived in Ghana and will be taking charge of the team when the second round of the League begins.

He signed a two-year contract subject to renewal.

The Coach’s fond memories in Ghana are when he led Ghana’s U23 side to the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens and also leading the Black Stars team to beat South Africa 3-0 in Kumasi during the 2006 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
