AshantiGold attacked by armed robbers after Hearts of Oak defeat

After a trip to Accra to play Hearts of Oak in the Ghana Premier League, the Miners were ambushed by armed robbers in the early hours of Monday.
On Sunday evening, a gang of armed robbers invaded Ghana Premier League side AshantiGold SC following their match against Hearts of Oak.
The heinous crime occurred in Assin Endwa, Assin North District, Central Region, however no one was injured.
“We were ambushed by armed robbers on our way back from Accra near Assin Endwa,” the club said in a statement.
“Three rounds were fired at the front bulletproof glass by the bandits as the team driver meandered through a horrific scene of gunfire.”

“It’s fortunate that no one was hurt. In Obuasi, the entire team is currently safe.”
After losing 2-1 to Accra Hearts of Oak in the Accra Sports Stadium, AshantiGold was returning to Obuasi.
