Demonstrating against e-levy is senseless – NPP’s Supper Yaw Ofori

Atiwa West Communication officer for ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Supper Yaw Ofori has said that it is senseless to demonstrate against e-levy.

According to the government spokesperson, it makes no sense for someone to kick against something that will fetch the country money.

Speaking on Radio 1 Morning Show monitored by MyNewsGh.com, Supper Yaw Ofori said “It makes no sense for people to demonstrate against e-levy, something that will give the country money.”

The imposition of the e-levy has been one of the contentious issues in the 2022 budget statement.

Many Ghanaians have called on the government to reconsider such a tax. They argue the levy is punitive.

The Minority Caucus in Parliament had indicated its strong resolve to reject the e-levy in its entirety.

It said it will kick against the levy in any shape or form since it will inflict more hardship on Ghanaians.

However, Supper Yaw Ofori thinks the e-levy is the best initiative that will boost Ghana’s economy.

“E-levy is the best we can have, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise, let all support it’s a good thing,” he said.
