A 68-year-old player said to be Ghana’s oldest, is on trial with Kwahu Fodoa FC, a third-tier club.
Papa Poloo, a native of Kwahu Fodoa in Ghana’s Eastern Region, began playing football when he was 12 years old. T
He is having trials in order to press for a deal with the third division club, and he believes his 56-year career is not done.
Poloo told how his football journey began in a video shared by Sports Journalist Saddick Adams.
“I was a player of Okwahu United. After leaving Okwawu, I joined a club in Cote d’Ivoire. Following that, I returned to Ghana since I was unable to find a club to play for in Cote’ d’Ivoire due to the war.
Our lecturers used to tell us in school that football may let us travel overseas. As a result, I desired to play football and travel internationally. I was making progress and would have gone a long way if it hadn’t been for the war.
Polo went on to say that he watches what he eats in order to keep his physique in good form for his footballing activities. ‘I don’t eat jollof rice or anything like that,’ he explained.
