HOT AUDIO: Gyakye Quayson still an MP – AG told

According to Abraham Amaliba, Director of Legal Affairs for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), James Gyekye Quayson is still the Member of Parliament for the Assin North seat.

The Supreme Court ruled on Wednesday that James Gyakye Quayson cannot serve as the MP for his seat until the substantive case against him is resolved.

According to the verdict, the Assin North MP is still an MP, but he can’t attend Parliament to execute his duties, Amaliba stated in an interview on Neat FM’s Me Man Nti program.

“…he is still an MP, but he is unable to attend parliament until the substantive matter is resolved…the question is, what will be lost if he is permitted to attend parliament while the substantive case is resolved? When a group of people is not represented in parliament, how can you claim to be operating a democracy?”

He pointed out that the judgment did not state that he was no longer a member of Parliament.
