E/R: Man who beheaded Mother at Yaayo arrested

Daily News Ghana reported earlier that a young man has beheaded his mother at Yaayo a farming community near Asamankese in the Eastern region. (Read HERE)

According to a Daily News Ghana source, the suspect has been arrested by the Asamankese police command.

The suspect Samuel Obeng, 45, was arrested at his hideout Monday morning December 21, 2020.

Sister of the suspect Sarlomey Frimpong, 42, reported at the Asamankese Police station that on Monday at about 1:30 am, their elder brother Samuel Obeng has stabbed and slit the throat of their mother in a room while they were asleep.

She said, the victim Comfort Adwoa Ayede, 65, was rushed to Asamankese Government Hospital but pronounced dead on arrival.

Investigators were dispatched to the scene and detected a pool of blood in the room. Inventories of the crime scene were adequately taken.

Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been deposited at Asamankese Government Hospital Morgue.

The suspect is in Police custody assisting in Investigation.
