Nigeria vs Ghana: Black Stars to move first leg of World Cup playoff to neutral venue

Complete Sports says that Ghana may transfer the opening leg of their 2022 World Cup playoff against Nigeria to a neutral venue.

This is owing to the poor condition of the Cape Coast Stadium, which was approved for the event at the outset.

After hosting the country’s 65th Independence Day parade, the pitch at Cape Coast has been questioned.

Despite the fact that rehabilitation work on the field has begun, it appears that there will not be enough time to complete it before the match.

Last week, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) submitted a complaint to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) about the poor condition of the pitch, and a CAF/FIFA inspection committee is in Ghana this week to investigate.

CAF has already ruled down Ghana’s request to shift the match to the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

The match might be rescheduled to a neutral location, with Benin and Morocco being viable candidates.
