S/R: Mobile Money vendor gun down by suspected robbers

After being wounded by suspected armed robbers on Saturday evening, a mobile money vendor in Sawla in the Savannah Region is fighting for his life.

The event occurred at 8:00 p.m. when he was closing up his shop for the day.

According to Citinewsroom.com reports, the man was shot and his money seized by an assailant on a motorcycle. He was then rushed to the Sawla district hospital, where he was treated and stabilized.

After early issues with a lack of oxygen at the hospital and ambulance, the person was referred to the Tamale Teaching Hospital on Sunday, according to another source.

The robbery is the town’s second in four months, with criminals targeting mobile money merchants.

Robbers shot and killed two persons in the town on December 9, 2021, after robbing a mobile money salesman of his money and phone.

The new occurrence has prompted police in the region to launch an inquiry.
