Former Presidential Spokesperson Samuel Koku Anyidoho has demanded Johnson Asiedu Nketia’s dismissal from the Parliamentary Service Board (PSB) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) (NDC).
Mr Asiedu Nketia, he added, has engaged in egregious anti-party behavior and has tarnished the name of Parliament.
This follows remarks made by the NDC General Secretary last month while speaking to the Ashanti Region Youth Wing of his party.
He had said that a Deputy Speaker deserved a smack to guarantee that he did not vote during the sessions he presided over.
“As long as impunity continues, resistance has been imposed on us as a duty,” General Mosquito told his party’s youth supporters on February 6.
“If a Deputy Speaker decides to vote and play referee at the same time if smacking him will get him to do the right thing, don’t hesitate,” he said, addressing the party’s representatives in Parliament.
However, former Deputy NDC General Secretary Anyidoho says Mr. Asiedu Nketia’s comments are “gross anti-party conduct and against the constitution of the NDC,” just days after the Supreme Court ruled that the First Deputy Speaker, Joseph Osei Owusu, exercised his constitutional right to vote despite being president over the proceedings in Parliament.
He insisted in a tweet on Friday, March 11, that “he must be sacked from the NDC.”
Mr Asiedu Nketia’s immediate dismissal from the Board was also demanded by the head of the Atta Mills Institute.
