SHS Teachers to pay 10% rent for occupying government bungalows

At the end of this month, March 2022, teachers and employees at senior high schools around the country are expected to pay 10% of their basic wages as rent for occupying a school and government residence.
The Ghana Education Service in the Western Region has given teachers notice that their remuneration will be reduced by 10%.
A GES circular circulating on social media, written by Mrs. Felicia Agyeibea Okai, Director of Education in the Western Region, alluded to a Ministry of Finance circular dated May 15, 2006, in conjunction with the payment.
She stated that instructors who work in a school or a government bungalow are supposed to pay ten percent of their base wage to the government in exchange for using the facilities.
Teachers who work at a school or a government bungalow are asked to pay ten percent of their base wage to use the government housing, according to her.
“As a result, I write to notify you that, beginning March 1, 2022, all Teachers/Staff occupying School/Government bungalows will be required to pay 10% of their base income,” she stated.
