Six suspects freed as gunmen ambush prison officials in Plateau

A convoy of correctional officials which was conveying 14 suspects charged with crimes ranging from murder to kidnapping and rape, has been attacked by gunmen believed to be herdsmen near Plateau High Court in Barkin Ladi Nigeria. 

The gunmen reportedly laid ambush at the entrance of the court premises, opened fire, and freed 6 suspects unchallenged.

Commenting on the incident, Plateau State Commandant of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Mr. S.A. Musa revealed that the Commissioner of Police, Edward Egbuka said the Court did not notify him of a change in hearing date.

The Police has however arrested four suspects and recovered two motorcycles believed to belong to the gunmen.
