SONA: Australian High Commissioner, Ghana reacts to Akufo-Addo’s comment on galamsey

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in his State of the Nation Address yesterday January 5, 2021, has called for an honest conversation about illegal small-scale mining (galamsey) in Ghana.

He noted that mining is a phenomenon that must be existent because the country has been bestowed with minerals that must be used to its benefit.

Reacting to the President’s comment HE Gregory Andrews Australian High Commissioner, Ghana said they with all Ghanaians.

“Mr President, Australia stands with you and all Ghanaians against illegal gold mining which damages the environment and human health while stealing the wealth of the Ghanaian people,” he wrote.
