The football world has been reeled from the shock of Maradona’s death. Maradona died on Wednesday, November 25, 2020, after suffering a heart attack at home. He was 60.
Before he died, Maradona had come down for breakfast on Wednesday morning looking pale and complaining that he felt cold.
His last words to his nephew were, ‘Me siento mal’ (‘I feel sick’), before returning to bed.
Not long before noon, a nurse discovered the football legend in a bad state and called for help but he was dead before paramedics could arrive.
This happened two weeks after having surgery to remove a blood clot in his brain.
The Argentinian President, Alberto Fernandez, has declared three days of mourning while reacting to the sad news and thousands of mourners have poured onto the streets to celebrate Maradona’s legacy.
“You took us to the top of the world. You made us immensely happy. You were the greatest of all,’ the leader tweeted. ‘Thanks for having existed, Diego. We will miss you for a lifetime,” President, Alberto Fernandez said.
