Two injured as former henchmen of Nsawam-Adoagyiri MP opens fire on NPP supporters

Two supporters of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), in the Nsawam Adoagyiri constituency of the Eastern Region have been injured in an alleged gun attack during a health walk organized by the Member of Parliament Frank Annor Dompreh on Saturday.

The injured victims identified as Abdulai Ezra Mensah and Osmanu Kadil suffered gunshot wounds and have since been treated and discharged.

Reports indicate that the MP for the area Frank Annor Dompreh organized a health walk participated by thousands of supporters of the party as part of activities to climax campaign in the constituency ahead of Monday, December 7 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

However, while walking at Ntoaso near Adoagyiri, a gang of four men wielding locally manufactured pistols and some offensive weapons attacked and opened fire at the advanced team of the MP.

The two suffered gunshot wounds in the arm.

The police patrol team was quickly dispatched to the scene and with the support of the NPP supporter gave the suspects a hot chase but they managed to escape.

Security was immediately beefed up until the walk ended at 9:45 am.

A preliminary, investigation by CID in Nsawam indicates that both the attackers and the victims were henchmen for the incumbent MP until the recent fallout with the MP.
