John Koomson, a Ghanaian author working in London, has said that a Ghanaian woman deported him because he believes she was jealous.
John told DJ Nyaami on SVTV Africa that he had no legal documents at the time, but he worked as a minicab driver and excelled at it. As a result, his friend’s wife denounced him as a terrorist to the immigration office.
“By that time, I was driving a minicab.” At the police station, I was almost killed because the person who reported me claimed I was a terrorist and a spy. That was the statement made by the immigration officer who interviewed me. “I didn’t have any papers and had to rely on a friend’s driver’s license,” he explained.
He claimed that he did not have a direct relationship with the woman. “I assume she was jealous since her husband was also a driver, and she wasn’t making as much,” says the author.
John went on to say that he was deported shortly after and that he was denied admission to the UK for the next ten years. His wife was working in London while he was in Ghana.
“I was constantly denied visas as a result of the article, and I had to travel to another country first.” “As a result, my wife and I were separated for eleven years,” John explained.
