Watch Video: We sacrificed 7 mad people before winning the U20 world cup – Joseph Langabel reveals

On the 16th October 2009, the Black Satellites of Ghana became the first African side to win the FIFA U20 World Cup, defeating Brazil on penalties after an unyielding performance in the final.

Having proven themselves to be an attacking threat throughout the tournament, the young Ghanaians showed another side to their game, offering tenacious resistance for over 80 minutes after Daniel Addo’s 37th minute sending off.

Giving full details of what really went down before the Black Satellites lift the trophy, Cheif drummer, and motivator of the Black Stars Joseph Langabel who was with the team at that time said they have to sacrifice even mad people before winning the trophy.

Speaking with Max TV Langabel said the only way they could win the match is to bathe six madmen and one madwoman making seven mad people at the center of the Cairo sports stadium where the final is going to take place.

“I and Zacoco need to search the entire Cairo to find these mad people. We started our journey and as soon as we see a man person then we give them money and bread. After a long search, we were left with one female mad person. We search and search and search and we were tired.”

“Then we saw 2006 a hotel we went to sleep that is Novotel so I told Zacoco we have been here before so we took a bus to Novotel and just as we got down a saw a woman who was pregnant so I told Zacoco that look she is mad. We went close to her and asked a man that we want to give the woman something and he said she is a madwoman then I said that’s it.”

“So we give the woman money and bread. Zacoco knows Arabic so he always speaks to them in Arabic before we give them the bread and money and then we were set.”

“When we got back to the hostel then we call Jordan and he asked us if we were set and we said yes and he said there is another sacrifice we need to make but for that, I won’t say it here. We did so many things I can’t say it here. So we did all that and the man that’s Jordan Anagblah’s father who was blind told us that we will take the trophy.”

“He said we will win the match but it will be difficult for us and he added that there will be two red cards in the match. Everything happened and by the grace of God we took the cup so when Aziz says there is something in football that’s true,” Langabel narrates.
