Former President John Dramani Mahama’s personal aide Joyce Bawah Mogtari has slammed New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwart Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko for criticizing her boss over last Wednesday’s Supreme Court verdict.
Mahama described the Supreme Court’s decision last week that Deputy Speakers of Parliament can be counted and vote on House issues as “shocked but not surprising.”
“A terrible convenience interpretation that creates a hazardous precedent of court meddling in Parliamentary proceedings in the future,” he continued.
“You may choose to pardon John Mahama because his elementary comprehension of the law is plainly small, going by his reactions to Supreme Court judgements – except ex-presidents are expected not to talk loosely against the three arms of government,” Gabby tweeted in response. “How about lawyer Alban Bagbin?” you might wonder.
Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko is the chairman of Asaase Radio and a senior partner of the Accra-based corporate law company Africa Legal Associates.
Mahama’s aide, Mogtari, also took to Facebook to retaliate against Gabby for questioning the legal expertise of the NDC’s 2020 presidential candidate (NDC).
